Terms & Conditions
The following terms and conditions shall be applied for experiences and guided services offered and delivered by The Local Arctic in Rovaniemi and in any other area where services are delivered.
Services and Prices
The prices and services offered by The Local Arctic are set out in the program descriptions for each experience. The given prices include VAT according to the Taxation Laws and Regulations of Finland. The Local Arctic reserves the right to change prices in case of any unforeseen increases in costs beyond its control.
The Local Arctic offers a preferential rate on its own website and cannot be held responsible for any price difference existing on partners' reselling platforms.
Reservation
Reservations are considered confirmed upon receipt of full payment. Online bookings are automatically confirmed with an email notification upon payment receipt. For reservations made on the spot, a confirmation and payment receipt will be delivered to the customer.
Booking Change
Any request to amend a booking must be sent in writing to thelocalarctic@gmail.com at least 48 hours prior to the experience. The Local Arctic reserves the right to accept or decline any request to amend a booking.
Cancellation
For cancellations, please contact thelocalarctic@gmail.com. Cancellation fees apply as follows:
- 100% cancellation fee if cancelled 24 hours or less before the event
- 50% cancellation fee if cancelled 7 days or less before the event
- 10% cancellation fee if cancelled 8 days or more before the event
If a subcontractor's cancellation terms are stricter, their terms will apply.
Service Language
English is the official language used in guiding and all other services. Specific languages may be offered but must be requested in advance. Additional fees may apply for specific language services.
Travel Insurance
Participants are required to have their own insurance to take part in any experience provided by The Local Arctic. The insurance should cover snow adventure sports, impossibility to travel, damages and harms caused to others, and any other unexpected costs. EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens with a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) are entitled to medical services in Finland.
Safety
All participants must follow briefings carefully and obey all safety instructions given by the guide. Anyone taking part in an experience is required to dress appropriately according to the weather and actual conditions. Participation in all experiences is at one's own risk.
Third-Party Suppliers
The Local Arctic may resell experiences delivered by third-party suppliers. In addition to the present terms and conditions, the terms and conditions of the third party will apply. The Local Arctic cannot be held responsible for defects in service delivery by a third-party supplier.
Use of Image and Digital Content
All participants accept that photographs, videos, and digital content produced during the experience by The Local Arctic staff — including content that displays their image — may be used for the marketing of The Local Arctic. The Local Arctic commits not to sell or share such content with third parties for purposes other than its own marketing. Participants may contact thelocalarctic@gmail.com to request that digital content displaying their image is not used; such requests must be made in writing before the start of the experience.
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Finnish law. The District Court of Lappi (Lapin käräjäoikeus) in Rovaniemi shall be the court of first instance.
If any part of these terms and conditions is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
